Every Harris Tweed piece of clothing is given an authenticity label bearing the 'orb', an orb, as this is the hallmark of Harris Tweed. Only those tweed fabrics whose wool has been dyed and spun in the Outer Hebrides are allowed to decorate themselves with it. Harris Tweed is made of pure virgin wool, unique in its colours and can be easily combined with other fabrics.

Only those tweed fabrics whose wool has been dyed and spun on the outer Hebridesare allowed to be decorated by the orb. Harris Tweed is probably the most robust and well-known tweed. Due to its high quality processing, it is robust and weather resistant. There are three different weights at Harris Tweed. We only take the middle one, which is also our heaviest.
What makes wool so special?
Wool has an unique structure that gives it a natural elasticity, so that the substances returns to its natural form. This prevents wrinkles and folds. It can easily absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture without feeling damp or clammy. The ability of wool to absorb moisture makes it comfortable in both warm and cold conditions. In addition, wool is tear-resistant and the outer skin of the wool fibre is like a protective film that gives the wool fabric an improved robustness.

For Tweed, regular shaking and ventilation is usually sufficient. Aereate the tweed article well after wearing. You can easily remove fuzz and dry dirt with a brushl. If necessary, use chemical cleaning.
